Celebrating 20 Years: Mary Landry’s Specialty Tag & Label Journey
This week, Specialty Tag & Label celebrated a very special milestone: Mary Landry’s 20th anniversary with the company.
Mary joined Specialty Tag & Label in September 2006. Over the past two decades, her role has grown right alongside the company. What began as a job became a career, and over time, Specialty Tag & Label became much more than a workplace. It became a second family.
During her 20 years with the company, Mary has taken on new responsibilities, faced plenty of challenges, traveled to trade shows across the country, built lasting relationships with customers and vendors, and helped guide Specialty Tag & Label through years of growth and change.
To commemorate the occasion, the team gathered for an anniversary lunch, where owner Paul Plumlee surprised Mary with a particularly fitting gift: her very own Purple Heart.
Of course, this Purple Heart carries a much different meaning than the military decoration. For Mary, it represents 20 years of dedication to a company whose signature color has always been purple. It was sentimental, personal, a little humorous, and perfectly suited to Specialty Tag & Label.
Even more meaningful than the gift were the words and appreciation behind it.
Twenty years with one company means experiencing a lot together. Technology changes. The company grows. New employees join the team. Customers become longtime friends. There are busy seasons, difficult days, new opportunities, big accomplishments, mistakes to learn from, and plenty of occasions to step outside a comfort zone.
Through all of it, Mary has continued to grow both professionally and personally.
She is especially grateful to Paul for the trust he has placed in her over the years, the opportunities he has given her, and the challenges that have pushed her to become a better leader. She is equally thankful for the coworkers, customers, vendors, and friends who have become part of her story along the way.
As Specialty Tag & Label prepares to celebrate its own 30th anniversary in 2027, there is still plenty ahead. The company continues to grow, introduce new products, expand into new markets, and look for better ways to serve the horticulture industry.
After 20 years, Mary is proud of everything the team has accomplished together and excited to help shape what comes next.
And now, she has a Purple Heart to mark the journey. 💜
